Choosing the Right Wedding Car

Before comparing models, picture the wedding. A grand country house, a cathedral or a large hotel reception usually calls for a statement arrival. A register office ceremony, a small civil wedding or a relaxed garden party may suit something quieter. Neither is better; the right car is the one that looks as though it belongs in your photographs.

Our fleet covers both ends of that scale with four cars, all chauffeur-driven: a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Mercedes S500 long-wheelbase saloon, a seven-seat Mercedes V-Class and an Audi A6.

The Phantom is the most requested wedding car we run. Rear-hinged coach doors let a bride step out facing forward, which suits a full gown and gives photographers a clean shot. Inside, the rear cabin is spacious and quiet, so the last few minutes before the ceremony feel calm. If the arrival is the moment you care about most, this is usually the answer.

The long-wheelbase S500 is elegant without being showy. It works well for couples who prefer understatement, as a groom's car, or as a second car following the Phantom. The extra rear legroom means a dress does not have to be folded into a small space.

The V-Class seats up to seven, which changes the logistics of a morning. Bridesmaids, flower girls and a parent can travel together, arrive together and appear in photographs together. Captain's chairs and wide sliding doors keep dresses uncrushed. Many couples pair it with the Phantom so the whole bridal party is covered.

The A6 is a smart, comfortable saloon for smaller ceremonies, for parents or grandparents, or for couples who simply want a reliable, discreet chauffeur without a headline car.

How many people need to move at the same time? One car may be enough for a couple, but a larger bridal party often needs two. How long are the journeys between home, ceremony and reception? Longer distances make rear comfort more important. What colour scheme are you using? Ribbons are included with every wedding booking and can be matched to your colours. And what does your photographer want? Some ask for particular angles with the car, which is worth mentioning when you book.

Also consider the venue approach. Narrow lanes, gravel drives or tight turning circles are rarely a problem for an experienced chauffeur, but it helps to tell us about them so the route and timing can be planned properly.

The colour of the car matters more than many couples expect, because it appears in so many photographs. A pale car against a stone church, a dark saloon against a white dress, or a gleaming bonnet reflecting a blossom tree each create a different mood. Look at pictures of each vehicle on our fleet pages and imagine them at your own venue.

Think about the interior too. The bride spends the final quiet minutes before the ceremony in the rear seat, and the couple usually travel together afterwards. Soft leather, generous space and a calm cabin make that time feel special rather than cramped. All four cars are cleaned and prepared before every booking, inside and out.

Finally, mention anything your photographer has asked for, such as a shot through the rear window or beside an open door. The chauffeur will happily position the car to help.
